Not a score
and a paragraph.
ScriptAccess evaluates each work against a dedicated SA-EVAL professional standard created for its form. Every evaluation follows fixed criteria, scoring thresholds and methodology, giving writers a consistent, structured and candid assessment of what works, what doesn't, and what would materially improve the work.
We don't promise you a good score. We promise you a score we can explain.
Different forms.
Different rules.
A novel is not a screenplay. A microdrama is not conventional television. ScriptAccess evaluates each form against a dedicated SA-EVAL standard built around how that form actually works.

SA-EVAL FICTIONOne philosophy. Dedicated professional standards for every form.
More than coverage.
A complete assessment.
Writing evaluation
Your work is assessed against the craft criteria that matter to its particular form, with strengths and weaknesses identified from the work itself.
SA-EVAL scoring
Category-by-category scoring and an overall assessment against a fixed professional standard. Every score must be supported by the evaluation.
Commercial perspective
A separate assessment of positioning, audience and commercial potential. Market considerations remain separate from the craft score.
Actionable priorities
Clear, prioritised recommendations showing what would materially improve the next version, rather than vague encouragement or pages of unfocused notes.
The work first. The evidence second. The score last.
One principle.
Consistency.
Every work is evaluated against the current version of the dedicated SA-EVAL standard for its form. Criteria, scoring thresholds and methodology are fixed before the work is assessed.
Fixed criteria
The same professional criteria are applied to every work within its form.
1–10 scoring
Scores correspond to defined levels of professional execution. High scores are earned, not given for encouragement.
Evidence based
Assessment comes from what is actually on the page. Intention, reputation and previous scores do not influence the evaluation.
Version controlled
Every evaluation records the SA-EVAL standard used, so the methodology remains identifiable as the system develops.
A defined professional scale designed to make every score mean something.
High scores are earned. 9 and 10 are deliberately rare.
Simple in.
Useful out.

The purpose is not to tell a writer whether their story is good. It is to show them why it works, or why it doesn't.

Exceptional work can earn something money cannot buy: consideration for ScriptAccess Select.
Work achieving an SA-EVAL raw score of 8.5 or higher qualifies for an additional human quality review. Those confirmed at the required standard may be invited to Select, our deliberately limited private discovery collection for verified industry professionals.
You cannot buy status. You earn it on the page.
Exceptional work. Private industry access.
Select can present qualifying work to verified producers, production companies, filmmakers, publishers, literary agents, theatre professionals and other relevant industry members looking for material.
Select is deliberately limited. It is not an open database and paying for an evaluation cannot buy admission.
Why choose ScriptAccess?
For £35, ScriptAccess provides a substantial written evaluation against the same format-specific SA-EVAL standard for every submission. The Black List uses individual readers, whose judgments can differ. Our approach gives writers a consistent basis for scoring and detailed feedback they can use when revising. Zero Sum is a genuine 124-page screenplay written by ScriptAccess founder Keven Hollands. Read it alongside both evaluations and judge the difference for yourself.

Your copyright and ownership remain yours.
Secure submission

Before you
submit.
What types of work can I submit?
Film screenplays, television pilots and individual episodes, single microdrama episodes and micro shorts, stage plays, novels, novellas and short stories. Each is evaluated against the dedicated SA-EVAL standard for its form.
Do you accept international submissions?
Yes. ScriptAccess accepts eligible submissions from writers worldwide. Your location does not affect eligibility, but submitted work must currently be written in English.
Is ScriptAccess evaluation AI-powered?
Yes. ScriptAccess uses advanced AI technology as part of its evaluation process, and we are completely transparent about that. But the AI does not simply read your work and offer an unrestricted opinion.
ScriptAccess has developed a proprietary SA-EVAL evaluation system for each form we accept, with dedicated criteria, scoring thresholds and methodology for Film, Television, Microdrama, Stage and Fiction. Your work is assessed against the professional standard specifically designed for its form.
The technology powers the evaluation. SA-EVAL governs it.
Do I retain copyright?
Yes. Submitting work for evaluation does not transfer copyright or ownership to ScriptAccess.
What if my work is longer than the standard allowance?
It's still welcome. Contact ScriptAccess before submitting and we'll arrange an extended-work evaluation and agree the price in advance.
Can I submit a revised version?
Yes. A revised work receives its own submission reference and evaluation. Where appropriate, ScriptAccess can identify changes between versions while preserving the integrity of the new assessment.
How does ScriptAccess Select work?
A raw SA-EVAL score of 8.5 or higher qualifies the work for additional human review. Qualification does not guarantee admission. Human-confirmed work may be invited to the deliberately limited ScriptAccess Select collection.
How quickly will I receive my evaluation?
We normally deliver your completed evaluation within 3 days of receiving your submission and payment. During particularly busy periods, turnaround may take up to 7 days.
If we cannot deliver your evaluation within 7 days, your evaluation fee will be refunded.
