ScriptAccess

Select Terms

These Select Terms explain how ScriptAccess Select works, how eligible work may qualify, and the principles that apply where ScriptAccess introduces qualifying work to relevant industry professionals.

You cannot buy your way into ScriptAccess Select. Qualification is earned through the quality of the work.

1. What ScriptAccess Select is

ScriptAccess Select is a private industry-access and discovery tier for exceptional work identified through the ScriptAccess evaluation process.

Select may include qualifying work in Film, Television, Microdrama, Stage and Fiction and is separate from the standard ScriptAccess evaluation service.

Select is intended to help qualifying writers place outstanding work in front of relevant verified or approved industry professionals, including producers, production companies, filmmakers, publishers, literary agents, theatre professionals and others seeking material within the relevant creative field.

2. Qualification

Writers cannot purchase entry into ScriptAccess Select.

Work achieving an exceptional SA-EVAL result may become eligible for further human review. ScriptAccess currently anticipates that a raw weighted SA-EVAL score of 8.50 or above may trigger that review.

Reaching that score does not guarantee admission. ScriptAccess may consider factors including quality, originality, commercial potential, presentation and suitability before issuing a Select invitation.

Qualification criteria may be applied through the SA-EVAL standard appropriate to the form of work submitted.

3. Invitation and participation

Participation in ScriptAccess Select is voluntary and by invitation only.

A writer is not required to join Select simply because their work qualifies for consideration.

Before work is formally admitted to Select, the writer may be required to review and accept a separate Select Agreement setting out the detailed commercial terms applicable to industry introductions and qualifying transactions.

4. Ownership and copyright

Writers retain ownership and copyright in their submitted work.

Admission to Select does not transfer copyright, title or ownership of the work to ScriptAccess.

ScriptAccess does not acquire production, adaptation, publication, performance, sequel, remake, merchandising, licensing or other underlying rights merely because work is included in Select.

5. Industry introductions

Where ScriptAccess introduces a writer or qualifying work to a producer, financier, production company, studio, distributor, publisher, literary agent, theatre producer, agent, manager or other relevant industry professional, that introduction may be treated as a ScriptAccess-originated opportunity.

If a qualifying commercial transaction subsequently arises from such an introduction, ScriptAccess may be entitled to a fee, commission, participation or other agreed economic interest.

The exact commercial terms will be set out in the separate Select Agreement accepted by the writer before participation.

6. Existing relationships

Writers should disclose any genuine pre-existing relationship with an industry professional before ScriptAccess makes an introduction to that person or company.

The separate Select Agreement may include provisions dealing with prior contacts, protected introductions, subsequent transactions and circumstances where more than one party claims to have originated an opportunity.

7. No guarantee of representation or sale

Inclusion in Select does not guarantee that any work will be read, represented, optioned, purchased, financed, commissioned, published, produced, staged, adapted, licensed or distributed.

ScriptAccess does not guarantee that any industry professional will respond to an introduction or pursue a commercial relationship with the writer.

8. ScriptAccess is not automatically your agent

Participation in Select does not by itself create an agency, management, employment, partnership or joint venture relationship between the writer and ScriptAccess.

Any broader representation arrangement would require a separate written agreement.

9. Confidentiality and access

ScriptAccess intends Select to operate as a controlled discovery environment. Access may be limited to verified or approved industry professionals.

ScriptAccess may apply access controls, membership requirements, confidentiality provisions and other safeguards considered appropriate for participating writers and their submitted material.

10. Withdrawal

Writers may request withdrawal from Select, subject to any continuing obligations relating to introductions or commercial opportunities already originated through ScriptAccess.

Any continuing protection period or transaction-related obligation will be defined in the applicable Select Agreement.

11. Relationship with the general terms

These Select Terms supplement the general ScriptAccess Terms & Conditions.

Where a writer enters into a separate Select Agreement, that agreement will govern the specific commercial relationship relating to Select participation and qualifying industry introductions.

12. Changes to Select

ScriptAccess may refine the Select qualification threshold, review process, eligibility criteria, access controls or commercial structure as the service develops.

Any material commercial obligations affecting an individual participating writer will be governed by the agreement accepted by that writer.
